Ingredients:
2 teaspoons baking soda
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
2 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon salt
1 cup canola oil
1 teaspoon baking powder
2 cups sugar
1 cup milk
1 cup brewed coffee
2 eggs
Frosting
5 tablespoons all-purpose flour
1 cup sugar
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup milk
½ cup butter, softened
½ cup shortening
Cocoa powder
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 325 degrees F.
Combine the baking soda, baking powder, all-purpose flour, cocoa powder and salt in a bowl.
In another bowl, mix the canola oil, sugar, milk, brewed coffee, eggs and vanilla extract.
Add this to the flour mixture.
Using an electric mixer, mix the batter on medium setting for 3 minutes.
Pour the cake batter into a baking pan.
Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
Let cool on a wire rack for 10 minutes.
Add the all-purpose flour and milk to a pan over medium heat.
Cook until thickened.
Let cool.
Refrigerate for 15 minutes.
Add the butter, sugar, vanilla extract and shortening to the cooled milk mixture.
Beat for 10 minutes or until light and fluffy.
Apply the frosting on the cake and dust with the cocoa powder.
2. Hershey’s Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

Chocolate Cake
1 ½ teaspoons baking powder
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
1 cup hot water
¾ cup of Hershey’s cocoa powder
2 cups sugar
1 teaspoon salt
½ cup oil
1 cup buttermilk
1 ½ teaspoons baking soda
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
2 eggs
Chocolate Frosting
2/3 cup Hershey’s cocoa powder
1/3 cup milk
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
½ cup butter, melted
3 cups powdered sugar
Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees F.
Cover the cake pans with parchment paper.
Spray with oil and set aside.
Add the all-purpose flour, baking powder, cocoa powder, baking soda, sugar and salt to a bowl.
Mix well.
In another bowl, mix the eggs, oil, buttermilk and vanilla extract.
Pour in the hot water.
Add the mixture to the flour mixture.
Bake in the oven for 30 minutes.
For the frosting, mix the cocoa powder and butter.
Add the milk, vanilla extract and powdered sugar.
Beat until light and fluffy.
Spread the frosting on top of the cake.
Slice and serve.
