Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Orange Sauce
This rich-tasting moist cake drizzled with chocolate orange sauce is always a delightful treat after any meal.

Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Orange SauceSAVE THIS!

Chocolate Cake with Chocolate Orange Sauce

Ingredients:
Butter for greasing
1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
2 ½ teaspoons baking soda
1 cup sugar
1 cup cocoa (unsweetened)
½ teaspoon salt
2 tablespoons canola oil
1 cup buttermilk
½ cup applesauce
3 egg whites
Sauce
½ cup cocoa powder
1 ¼ cups confectioners’ sugar
4 oz. cream cheese
½ cup orange juice
2 teaspoons orange liqueur
Instructions:
Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
Grease your cake pan with butter.
Sift together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, sugar, cocoa and salt.
Add the canola oil, buttermilk and applesauce to the bowl.
In another bowl, beat the egg whites until you see soft peaks forming.
Add this to the flour mixture.
Pour the cake batter into the cake pan.
Bake in the oven for 45 minutes.
Let cool on a wire rack for 20 minutes.
In a bowl, beat together the cream cheese, cocoa powder and confectioners’ sugar.
Pour the orange juice to a pot over medium heat.
Bring to a boil.
Simmer and heat through for 3 minutes or until reduced to half.
Pour the heated orange juice into the cocoa mixture.
Add the orange liqueur and stir.
Pour the sauce over the chocolate and serve.
