Description

Rich, decadent, and irresistibly indulgent, the Better Than Sex Cake combines moist chocolate cake, gooey caramel, creamy whipped topping, and crunchy candy for a dessert that truly lives up to its name. Whether it’s for a birthday, potluck, or cozy night in, this easy-to-make treat will have everyone coming back for seconds (or thirds)!

Ingredients

Scale

1 box Devil’s food cake mix (plus ingredients listed on the box: eggs, oil, water)

1 can sweetened condensed milk (14 oz)

¾ cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)

1 container Cool Whip (8 oz)

3 Heath candy bars, chopped (or substitute with Snickers, Reese’s, or your favorite candy)

Instructions

1. Prepare the Cake:

  • Preheat your oven to the temperature specified on the cake mix box. Grease a 13×9-inch baking pan.
  • Mix and bake the Devil’s food cake according to the box instructions. Once baked, let it cool for about 20 minutes.

2. Poke Holes in the Cake:

  • Using a wooden skewer, chopstick, or the handle of a spoon, poke holes all over the cake. Be careful not to go all the way through to the bottom.

3. Add Sweetened Condensed Milk and Caramel:

  • Pour the sweetened condensed milk evenly over the cake, letting it soak into the holes.
  • Drizzle the caramel sauce over the top, ensuring it covers the entire surface.

4. Chill the Cake:

  • Allow the cake to cool to room temperature. Cover it with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours (or overnight) to let the flavors meld and the cake absorb the moisture.

5. Add Toppings:

  • Spread the Cool Whip evenly over the chilled cake.
  • Sprinkle the chopped Heath candy bars (or your preferred topping) over the Cool Whip.

6. Serve:

  • Slice the cake into squares and serve chilled. Enjoy the layers of rich, gooey, and crunchy goodness!

Notes

  • Make Ahead: This cake is even better when made a day in advance. Add the whipped topping and candy right before serving.
  • Customization: Swap out Heath bars for your favorite candy, or try crushed Oreos, Reese’s Pieces, or M&M’s for a twist.
  • Substitute for Cool Whip: Use homemade whipped cream by beating 1½ cups heavy cream with 3 tablespoons powdered sugar and 1 teaspoon vanilla extract until soft peaks form.
  • Storage: Cover leftover cake tightly and refrigerate for up to 3 days.

This easy, decadent dessert is guaranteed to be a hit at your next gathering!
