  • 5 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 2 cups kale (chopped)
  • 2 cups tortellini (refrigerated or frozen)

  1. In a large pot over medium-high heat, cook the ground sausage and diced onions until the onions are softened and the sausage is thoroughly cooked (8-10 minutes). Drain excess grease.
  2. Stir in minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Sprinkle flour over the mixture, cooking for 1-2 minutes while stirring constantly.
  4. Add dried basil, oregano, cayenne pepper (if using), hot sauce, mustard powder, pepper, and red pepper flakes; combine well.
  5. Pour in chicken broth while scraping any stuck bits from the bottom of the pot. Gradually stir in heavy cream and bring to a boil before reducing to a simmer.
