Ingredients

Scale

For the Smashing Patty:

1 pound ground beef (80/20 blend recommended for juiciness)

Salt and pepper, to season

Burger buns of your choice

Sliced cheese (optional)

For the Confidential Sauce:

1/2 cup mayonnaise

2 tablespoons ketchup

1 tablespoon finely chopped pickles or relish

1 teaspoon Dijon mustard

1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce

Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

1. Prepare the Confidential Sauce:
In a small bowl, mix the mayonnaise, ketchup, chopped pickles or relish, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Adjust seasoning to taste. Cover and refrigerate until ready to use.

2. Form the Patties:
Divide the ground beef into 4 equal portions and shape each into a ball.

3. Heat the Skillet:
Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

4. Smash the Patty:
Place one ball of ground beef on the hot skillet. Using a spatula or burger press, firmly smash the ball into a thin patty. Sprinkle the top with salt and pepper.

5. Cook the Patty:
Cook the patty for 2–3 minutes on the first side until a crust forms. Flip and cook for another 2–3 minutes until the patty reaches your desired doneness. Add a slice of cheese to the patty during the last minute of cooking, if desired.

6. Toast the Buns:
Toast the burger buns lightly on the skillet for extra flavor and texture.

7. Assemble the Burger:
Spread a generous amount of Confidential Sauce on the bottom half of the bun. Place the smashing patty on top, add your choice of toppings (lettuce, tomato, onions, pickles, etc.), and cover with the top bun.

8. Serve:
Serve the burgers hot with sides like fries, onion rings, or a fresh salad.

Notes

  • Meat Choice: Use an 80/20 ground beef blend for the best balance of flavor and juiciness.
  • Double the Sauce: Make extra sauce and keep it refrigerated for up to a week—it’s great for fries or as a sandwich spread.
  • Topping Ideas: Customize with bacon, avocado, jalapeños, or a fried egg for added indulgence.
