Sweet and fluffy Hawaiian rolls soaked in a creamy cinnamon-vanilla egg mixture, then pan-fried to golden perfection. This easy French toast recipe is a perfect breakfast or brunch treat for the whole family!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 Hawaiian rolls, sliced in half
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Pinch of salt
  • Butter or oil for cooking
  • Maple syrup, for serving
  • Powdered sugar, optional for garnish

Instructions

1. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

2. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium heat and lightly grease with butter or oil.

3. Dip each Hawaiian roll half into the egg mixture, soaking both sides well but not overly saturated.

4. Place soaked rolls onto the hot skillet and cook for 2-3 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

5. Remove from skillet and keep warm. Repeat with remaining rolls.

6. Serve warm topped with maple syrup and a dusting of powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

• Use day-old Hawaiian rolls for best soaking without falling apart.

• Substitute milk with almond or oat milk for a dairy-free option.

• Add fresh fruit like berries or sliced bananas on top for extra flavor.
