Skip the takeout and make this crispy sesame chicken at home in just 30 minutes! Golden-fried chicken tossed in a sweet, tangy sesame sauce.

Ingredients

Sesame Chicken Sauce:

1/4 cup soy sauce

1/4 cup rice vinegar

1/2 cup brown sugar

1 tablespoon corn starch

1/3 cup water

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1/2 tablespoon sesame seeds

Tempura Batter:

1/2 cup cornstarch

1/2 cup flour

2 egg whites

1/2 cup cold seltzer water

Chicken:

1 lb boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into 1-inch chunks

2 teaspoons sesame oil

1/4 teaspoon crushed red pepper

1 tablespoon minced garlic

Vegetable oil, for deep frying

Instructions

1. In a bowl, mix all sauce ingredients together and set aside.

2. In a separate bowl, whisk the batter ingredients until just combined. Add chicken pieces and coat well.

3. Heat 3 inches of oil to 350°F. Fry chicken in batches until golden brown.

4. In a wok or skillet, heat sesame oil. Add garlic and red pepper flakes; sauté for 30 seconds.

5. Add the sauce to the skillet, followed by fried chicken. Toss quickly to coat evenly.

6. Garnish with sesame seeds and serve immediately.
