  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon

  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 6 tablespoons cold butter
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup chopped apple
  • 1 cup confectioner's sugar
  • 2 tablespoons milk (for glaze)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flours, brown sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and salt. Cut in cold butter until crumbly.
  3. In another bowl, mix milk, egg, and vanilla extract. Combine wet ingredients into the dry mixture and fold in chopped apples.
  4. Drop batter by 1/4 cup onto the prepared baking sheet.
  5. Bake for 11–13 minutes until golden brown and set. Allow cooling slightly before glazing.
