Ingredients

Scale

Bread Batter:

  • ½ cup butter, softened (salted)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • ¼ cup packed brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda

Cinnamon Sugar Filling and Topping:

  • ⅓ cup sugar
  • 1½ teaspoons cinnamon
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter

Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan with butter or oil.

  • In a large bowl with a hand mixer (or a stand mixer fitted with the paddle attachment), cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (2–3 minutes).

  • Add the egg, vanilla extract, and buttermilk, and mix until fully incorporated.

  • Sift in the flour and baking soda. Mix gently until it starts to come together, then fold with a spatula until just combined and no large lumps remain.

  • In a small bowl, stir together the cinnamon and sugar for the swirl.

  • Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Sprinkle with half of the cinnamon sugar and use a butter knife to gently swirl it into the batter.

  • Add the remaining batter on top, smooth it out, and sprinkle the rest of the cinnamon sugar over it. Swirl again lightly.

  • Drizzle the melted butter evenly over the top of the loaf.

  • Bake for 50–70 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  • Allow the loaf to cool in the pan for 20 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For best results, ensure your butter is softened before mixing.

Store wrapped at room temperature for 2–3 days or refrigerate for up to 5 days.

For longer storage, freeze the loaf wrapped in plastic and placed in a freezer-safe bag for up to 2 months.
